Haoli Liang

Haoli Liang is a second year Arts student. After spending 4 years in Magee Secondary School, she came to UBC in September 2005. Haoli was born in Guangzhou, China and she has spent 15 years in Guangzhou before she came to Canada in August 2001. Now it has already been 6 years since she first came to Vancouver. Time really flies~ Although Haoli is living by herself right now, she doesn’t feel lonely at all because she’s always got dear parents and siblings to talk with, good friends to hang out with, and a super cute kitten to play with. She hopes that she can successfully get a degree in economics as she dreams for. However, by now, her only hope is to pass English 112.

Nebojsa Curcin is a first year arts student, hoping to major in Commerce. He was born in Serbia and moved to Africa (Zimbabwe) when he was four years old. At the age of 13, he once again moved, and came to Vancouver five years ago. He’s very athletic and loves to play tennis, soccer, basketball and cricket. He loves to be with his family and friends and go through life with them by his side. His positive outlook on life and eagerness to succeed is a driving force which helps him keep a level head whether in school or on the sports field. He hopes to one day travel the world and learn about the different cultures that are out there, because as a famous man once said “you can’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been!”

Louise Poon

Louise Poon was born in 1988 in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1996 her family moved to Vancouver, BC then subsequently to Richmond BC,where she currently resides. Louise graduated in 2006 from H.J. Cambie Secondary School and is now a first year Arts student at UBC. She has no clue what she wants to major in, so at the moment she is taking a bunch of random courses. She finds University a huge step up from High School and that it takes a lot of self-discipline to go to class let alone study. She considers the worst part of UBC to be the long distance she has to walk in between classes. In her free time, Louise enjoys outdoor activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, camping, hiking and snowboarding. She has also been an active member of the Royal Canadian Army Cadets since 2000. Her favourite aspect of Army Cadets is the incredible opportunities it offers. Louise’s fondest memory with cadets is the summer of 2005 where she spent 6 weeks in England on an international exchange. Other then spending all her time with cadets, Louise is usually found at home with her family or hanging out with friends.
